Calvary In The Community

For seven decades, Calvary has been dedicated to providing our community members with essential resources and assistance. This winter has been particularly severe, with record winds of up to 70 mph, along with wildfires affecting our local areas such of Sylmar, Lakeview Terrace, Granada Hills, Eaton, and Pacific Palisades.

By partnering with World Vision, which provided a 54-foot big rig filled with supplies, we were also able to support wildfire victims with hygiene kits, gloves, paper towels, toilet tissue, socks, clothing, pillows, bedding, Lysol, fresh fruit, Pedialyte, diapers, and toys for children. Families in vehicles were lined down Dronfield Ave., and each family received essential items and prayer.

Spring is the season of renewal, and this year, Calvary Baptist Church of Pacoima embraced that spirit by rolling up our sleeves and giving back in a big way. On March 22, church volunteers gathered for a Community Cleanup Day with one goal in mind: creating a cleaner, safer environment for the children and families near Fenton Primary Center.

Armed with brooms, rakes, and pruning shears, volunteers worked hard to clear the area across from the school, ensuring a safer path for students and residents. Our efforts paid off — over 600 pounds of debris, including broken glass and cigarette butts, were removed.

In collaboration with Clean California, CalTrans HQ, Fenton Primary Center, and Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez, we helped beautify the neighborhood and reinforce the values of service and community care.

“We’re here to make a difference. Not just in words, but in action.”
